In the election you have the choice to vote for a specific party, or to vote for specific individuals – just as you can in governmental elections in many countries.

In the election you will be choosing the 41 students who will be form the Student Unions highest decision-making body, the Council (fullmäktige). In addition to choosing the Board (styrelse) and choosing those students who will exercise your right to student representation according to the Higher Education Act, it is these 41 students who decide what the Student Union thinks in political questions, what service you should get from the Student Union and even the size of the student union fee.

The University Board (universitetsstyrelsen), the Library Board (biblioteksstyrelsen) and the department councils (fakultetsnämnder) are a few examples of the decision-making bodies that have a large influence over your studies. It is the Student Union that chooses exactly who will represent you in these bodies.

Equality, CSN Financial Aid for Students, housing, bicycle paths, education quality and how your money is used are examples of questions where the Student Union has the possibility to give an opinion and to influence decisions.

Student ombudsmen, home insurance, personal loans, secondhand course litterature, use of fax, computers and printers and even the possibility to rent cabins where you can swim, sauna or arrnage a party in the larger party hall are examples of the service that the Student Union gives students today.

The election gives you the chance to decide over your and other students’ future. Take the chance and make your voice heard!
